Money for nothing...

Hello readers. Well a wek has passed and so here I am again. I have begun the countdown to finishing at the legion, and have finally started my maths course. My first task was to take 4 practice tests to determine my average level. I passed all of them, so that should make the actual course shorter, since I don't have to do any of the basic stuff... Sweet!

On another high note, the Union of Educational Support Staff (which up until now I have never heard of), and the GMB have planned a strike for tomorrow. Since that immediately eliminates about a third of all Woodrush staff from actually working, they have decided to close the school for the day... But since MY union isn't on strike (I think... I can't remember which one I'm in.) I am still eligible for pay! In laymans terms "Paid for having a day off!"

I can wake up at 10:00am tomorrow and will have been paid for an hours sleep! How cool is that!?

Continuing my unusual streak of goodlyness, I am currently working on a painting of a rose for one of my collegues. Tracey at school has seen a print of one in Next for about £40. I told her that I can paint her one for half that price so thats what I'm doing. I have already sketched out the outline to get the size right. It's not the clearest of photos' but here it is so far.

It looks OK and it should come out quite nice. Uploading it was a chore though, I had to load every photo of my phone memory since the pictures are saved as numbers, not as the file names. In doing so I found a few gems that I had forgotten about. Since I haven't got a limit on time or resources, I can happily share them with you... (you lucky people, you)

On with the show!

Here's a quick sketch I did of Daniel. He has never seen it!

Here is a photo of Lank aged about 8 or 9. The photo is of another photo, belonging to the Adam Turbitt collection.

And finally, here's a photo I took of myself on my birthday.... I was a little bit drunk.

Well readers, Thats all for now. See you next week....

More birthdays, and some high-speed hi-jinx!

Welcome readers. It has been a week since my last blog and during that time Donna has become older. Yes it was her birthday last Wednesday. I got her a card and a big glass of wine... She thoroughly enjoyed it!

Ok, on with the blog!

This week has been very indifferent. I seem to type that almost every blog nowadays... Sorry readers. Yesterday however was actually very different. Carls brother Ralph is getting married on the 1st of April so as a bit of a day out we all went go-karting. It was a good indoor track on Fazeley Street, Digbeth. The day consisted of 11 heats followed by a final for the top 8 drivers. I was in 6th position but was knocked back to 9th overall, so I didn't compete in the Grand final. I did get the 8th fastest lap of the day though and I had an absolute blast. I would recommend it to anyone who fancies a thrash about with their mates. I did take a couple of videos on my mobile of the day so I want to upload them to this site. I have signed up with youtube.com so I will have to see if I can start "video-bloging." If it works I will try it when I go skiing at Easter and post some footage of the holiday. I'd like to do you all a 1st person view of a run, but I'm a bit worried that I would drop my phone. I would have to attach it to my chest somehow, or round my neck... I will experiment with it.

Well thats all for now readers.

Birthdays galore!

Well my audience of blogees, Between now and my last post I have advanced in age... Yes, last Wednesday was my birthday! I am now at the grand-old age of 24. (I need to start taking it easy, I will be on the list for a new hip, the way i'm going.) I asked everyone for money and I am going to buy myself a set of skis when I go skiing at easter. I have seen a pair of Atomic M:9's that I really want since my skis are old downhills, not carvers. I might treat myself to a set of new boots as well.

Enough about me though, today was Daniels birthday and he too has attained the age of 24 (I always tell him to respect his elders but he never does!) For his birthday he got the flu'. Not the greatest gift but hey-ho at least he gets a few days off work.

Thats all for now readers.... TTFN

When the saints go marching in...

Well readers. It's March already. This means Update time and what a week it's been.

I went to work at the Legion on Friday and did somethig I thought I would never do...

... I handed in my notice. Yep' I'm leaving. I finish at the end of April, although I'm going to need to book a week off before then at easter because I'm going skiing. Actually it will be good this year because we are going to Salzburg. The last 3 or 4 times I have been we have gone to Fugen so a change of mountains will be nice. Anyway, I said to Tony that after 5 years of working weekends I needed a change and use the time to plan what to do career-wise (since teaching now seems almost impossible.)

The rest of the week was very indifferent. On Monday we went... um... actually I can't remember! (I swear I am losing my memory, god help me whan I'm old.) On Tuesday we did the pub quiz in the Jug of Ale, with Jennys help. (That I DO remember.) We came about 7th I think out of 15 teams.

Wednesday at Fathers we watched the telly as usual, but no-one was in the Swan so I came home at 10pm. On thursday in the Swan much fun was had by all as Nicola bought with her an Ocarina. I was talking to her last week about the instrument and how I had never seen one. She had an old plastic one that she bought in for me to try. Needless to say I couldn't play it.

Today at work I was the same as ever except that Mark was limping due to the fact that he had fractured his foot whilst trying to perform a back-flip the day before...

... No, really!

Work at the Legion tonight was just as every other Friday night. I came home and decided to blog for you readers... You lucky lot, you.

Anyway. I'm off to beddie-byes. TTFN.
