More hot barbeque action!
hello readers and welcome to the first blog typed using my new PC! yes friends, the old one is officially dead. Right, well, where to start? Oh yes, as mentioned in my last blog Jenny had her barbeque at her house last Saturday. She had made most of the food herself and it all cooked up rather nice... Once we had gotten hold of an actual barbeque...
*Warning: Silly story alert*
Me and John got to Jenny's house for about 5pm. It was our intention to do a quick run to the local shop for drinks when everyone else arrived. Sitting in Jenny's lounge we discovered that Carl was bringing his barbeque because Jen' didn't have one. (Makes you wonder why she volunteered to host a barbeque evening, doesn't it?) Now it was previously arranged that everyone gets to Jen's for about 5-ish so at 6pm (with still no sign of Adam, Carl, or Marcus) I gave them a call. They were on their way but didn't know quite where Jenny's house was. I gave them easy directions and they arrived a short while later. Carl unpacked his barbeque and Marcus had bought with him his home-made sound system and speakers to hook up to a CD player so that we could have some music in the back garden. It was about 10 minutes later, once we had lit the barbeque tray that someone said "So, Carl, where's the grill?"
... The look on Carls face said it all... No grill (What-a-mistake-a-to-make-a!) it actualy provided us with some much needed humour and the chance for a little quest... Find a grill tray that will fit carls Barbeque or just get another one. Me, Carl, and John set off in pursuit of the answer to the problem. We called at john's house because he had a barbeque grill, although the contidion of the actuall barbeque meant that we couldn't use it. The grill was quickly fished out of the shed, and Jackie washed it quickly in the bath, just to be sure it was food-compliant.
... But would it fit?
We then stopped off at Sainsburys to get drinks and snacks. After purchasing copious amounts of booze, and then being served by an ex-year 11 pupil at woodrush, and then passing some current year 11 pupils on the way out (who called out "y'arright sir?" much to the amusement of Carl and John who find it funny that I am refered to as "sir" on a daily basis) we zipped back to Jenny's to see if johns grill would fit carls barbeque...
... short answer: No.
It was about an inch too short so, being men, we did what men do best... Improvise! We got two bricks and put them in the barbeque at the ends and just sat the grill on top of it. It worked a treat and the cooking commenced.
After the frivolity of cooking and having a laugh, we decided to play texas hold 'em poker. Jenny had bought a proper poker set complete with chips and cards held in a wooden carousel. It looked very smart. carl knew the basics, I had read the rules and understood the main concept, Adam was trying his best and Marcus was willing to learn. After half an hour of practice rounds we packed it up and decided to play Cranium. Me and Jenny versus Carl and Marcus versus John and Adam. it took quite a while to complete but we had some really funny moments (Marcus's challenge to act like Eddie Izzard will remain with me for quite some time) afterwards, at about 12midnight we went indoors. Adam had brought his Sega Megadrive round, because Jenny likes Sonic the Hedgehog. We had a round of Sonic, Earthworm Jim, Cyborg Justice, and (my personal favorite) Lemmings. We were pratting around until about 2am which is when everyone decided to call it a night. After collecting up all the stuff we left for some well deserved kip. I think Adam will be hosting the next Barbeque. In fact it may be this weekend! (I will blog all that happens readers, never fear.)
Um... What else has happened this week? Not a lot I'm afraid to say, so I shall leave it at that for the time being...
Oh, on a happy note, it is only 5 weeks until Donna gets back from the U.S! We are all counting down the days, my little petal. See you soon
... And see you soon also, readers. TTFN.
